Ahmedabad| Gujarat Titans defeated Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2023 by 62 runs and enter to the final. The final match will be played between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings on May 28 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Earlier, Mumbai Indians won the toss and invited Gujarat Titans to bat first, Gujarat Titans scored 233 for 3 wickets in 20 overs with fine inning of inform Shubman Gill who scored 129 runs in 60 balls with the help of 7 fours and 10 sixes. Sai Sudarshan scored 43 and Captain Hardik Pandya scored an unbeaten inning of 28 runs in 13 balls. Akash Madhwal and Piyush Chawla took 1-1 wickets for Mumbai Indians.
Chasing a mammoth target of 233, Mumbai Indians got off to a poor start, with both opening batsmen Captain Rohit Sharma and Nehal Wadhera being dismissed by Mohammed Shami, though Tilak Verma’s 14-ball 43 lifted Mumbai Indians hopes, but on the last ball of the power play, Rashid Khan dealt a blow to Mumbai Indians by sending Tilak Verma back to pavilion. Suryakumar Yadav’s 61 off 38 balls and Cameron Green’s innings of 30 runs fought for Mumbai Indians, but Mumbai Indians’ batting completely disintegrated in front of Mohit Sharma’s fiery balls. The entire Mumbai Indians team returned to the pavilion after scoring 171 runs in 18.2 overs, and lost the match by 62 runs. Mohit Sharma bowled brilliantly and took 5 wickets for 10 runs. Shubman Gill was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant batting, this was Shubman Gill’s third century in IPL 2023.
