New Delhi | Man of the match Shatanu’s brilliant century innings of 109 runs helped Carpediem India in reaching the final of the 46th Lala Raghubir Hot Weather Cricket Tournament by defeating Sporting Cricket Club easily by 6 wickets.
In the first semi-final match played today, Carpediem India won the toss and invited Sporting Club to bat first. Sporting Club scored 276 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 40 overs with the brilliant century of 102 runs from former Delhi Ranji captain Pradeep Sangwan. Apart from Pradeep Sangwan’s century, wicket-keeper batsman Shivam Gupta played a brilliant inning of 62 runs. Asif Mansoori bowled lethally for Carpediem India, taking 4 wickets for 48 runs.
The target of 282 runs was easily achieved by Carpediem India after losing 4 wickets in 39.1 overs. Shantanu played a brilliant inning of 102 runs. Akshdeep Nath, a Ranji player from Uttar Pradesh, shared a brilliant 156-run partnership for the second wicket with the Shantanu, who scored a brilliant inning of 68 runs. Sameer Chaudhary 29 not out and Uvais Ahmed 22 not out played an important role in the victory of Carpediem India. Pradeep Sangwan was the most successful bowler for Sporting Club, taking two wickets for 72 runs. Shantanu was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant century innings.
