New Delhi | Former Indian wicket-keeper Mohan Chaturvedi has been made the chairman of the Junior Cricket Selection Committee for the year 2023-24 by the Delhi District Cricket Association.
Mohan Chaturvedi’s message after becoming the chairman of the selection committee, “Honesty will be my basic mantra.” It is very important for me to be honest in my work and selection. Along with this, emphasis will be laid on fairness, transparency, discipline, team spirit, skill, performance and hard work in the selection. Also, to take Delhi cricket to the top and to have maximum representation of Delhi players in the Indian team, this is my vision, my thinking is my aim”. This shows his sincerity towards the game of cricket.
Mohan Chaturvedi has been counted among the best wicket keepers of the country. He was included in the Indian team as a standby wicket keeper on the tour of Pakistan in 1989 and England and New Zealand in 1990. Mohan Chaturvedi represented India in the Youth World Cup held in Australia in 1988 and also played Ranji Trophy for Rest of India, Delhi, North Zone Dilip Trophy, Deodhar Trophy, Irani Trophy, Wills Trophy and Vijay Trophy for Delhi University and also toured Australia, New Zealand and Pakistan with the Indian Under 19 team. After retiring from cricket, Mohan Chaturvedi was also a member of the Delhi Senior Selection Panel in 2018 and 2020 and was the Chairman Selector in the Delhi Junior Selection Committee in 2021.
Mohan Chaturvedi has been seen from time to time visiting various local tournaments in Delhi and observing the performance of the players. Apart from this, he has also been seen writing the performance and names of good players in a diary. The performance of Delhi Junior Cricket teams has not been very good for many years, in such a situation, after becoming the Chairman Selection Committee in the year 2023-24, there is no doubt that he will be successful in taking Delhi Cricket to a new level by selecting talented young players.
