New Delhi | Rann Star Club pulled off a thrilling 6-run Super Over win over Carpediem India in the final of the 46th Lala Raghubir Singh Hot Weather Cricket Tournament.
After winning the toss, Rann Star Club invited Carpediem India to play first. Carpediem India scored 262 runs in 38.3 overs. Shantanu played a brilliant inning of 108 runs and Akshdeep Nath played an inning of 38 runs. Saksham Sharma showed the path of pavilion to 5 batsmen by giving 31 runs. Vaibhav Kandpal took 2 wickets for 39 runs.
Chasing the target of 262 runs, the team of Rann Star Club was reduced to 262 runs in 38.4 overs and the match was tied. Abhishek Goswami scored 89 and Sarthak Ranjan scored 69 runs. Vineet Panwar took 3 wickets for 37 runs and Sumit Beniwal and Gaurav Tomar took 2-2 wickets.
In the super over, Rann Star Club scored 21 runs, in reply Carpediem India could only manage 15 runs for the loss of 1 wicket and lost the match by 6 runs. Saksham Sharma was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant bowling.
Shantanu got the best batsman award, Saksham Sharma got the best bowler award and Vaibhav Kandpal got the best all-rounder award. The best bowler and batsman were given trophy and Rs 11,000 and the best all-rounder was given Rs 21,000 and trophy.
Rs. 2.5 lakh was awarded to the winning team and Rs. 1.5 lakh to the runner-up team. The prize distribution was done by Chief Guest Gurcharan Singh (Dronacharya Award winner), Meera Pradeep Singh, Ravindra Manchanda and Principal of Modern School Vijay Datta.
